How to Make Stickers on Canva (and a Faster Alternative)
By Sticker Flux ·
Canva is a popular way to lay out stickers, especially sticker sheets and labels. Here is a simple workflow for making stickers on Canva and getting them print-ready.
Setting up your sticker design
Start with a custom canvas sized to your sticker, for example 3 by 3 inches, or a full 8.5 by 11 inch page for a sticker sheet. Use elements, shapes, and text to build your design, keeping it bold and simple. Remember that stickers are viewed small, so thick outlines, high contrast, and a short phrase work better than lots of detail.
To create the classic sticker look, place a white outline shape slightly larger behind your artwork, or duplicate the art, fill it white, and enlarge it a little. Keep elements inside a safe margin so nothing important gets cut off. Import a paid [Sticker Flux](/) download into Canva when you need an illustrated scene for your layout. Its printable border is already present, so do not automatically add another outline. Keep the original aspect ratio and check the page dimensions before exporting your sheet.
Exporting for printing
Export as a high-quality PNG or a print PDF. If you plan to use a cutting machine, a PNG with a transparent background lets the machine detect the outline. For a full sheet, arrange stickers with space between them and export the whole page at full resolution.
Print on sticker paper with your printer's best quality setting and the right paper type. Do a test on plain paper first to check size and colors. If you want professional results, the same file can be uploaded to a print service for die cut or kiss cut stickers.
Canva's limits for sticker art
Canva is great for arranging, lettering, and labels, but it relies on stock elements, so it is harder to get truly original characters or illustrations. Check the license terms for any element you use, especially if you plan to sell stickers, because some assets have restrictions.
For one-of-a-kind art, many people generate the illustration first and then arrange it. Describe your idea, pick a style, and choose your favorite of several designs. That way your stickers are unique to you rather than built from the same pieces everyone else uses.
